Pepperoni Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour (substitute: whole wheat flour for a healthier version)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (substitute: vegetable oil)

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 2 tsp instant yeast (substitute: 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast + 1 tsp sugar)

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup tomato sauce (substitute: blended canned tomatoes with Italian seasoning)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp olive oil

For the Toppings:

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup pepperoni slices (substitute: turkey pepperoni or mushrooms for a vegetarian version)

  • ½ tsp dried oregano (optional)

Before We Start

  • Use warm water (not hot!) – Helps the yeast activate properly.

  • Let the dough rise – Rest for at least 1 hour for a soft and airy crust.

  • Preheat your oven – Set to 220°C (425°F) before baking.

Instructions

Make the Dough

Step 1: Take a bowl, add a little warm water, and add yeast. Let it bloom; it takes 5 minutes.

Step 2: Take a bowl, add all-purpose flour, salt, and olive oil or ghee. Mix ingredients, then add yeast. Make it crumbly, then transfer the dough onto the floured surface and knead it until smooth. Do spread, punch—don’t fold it again and again. Grease your hands while kneading.

Step 3: When it’s done, place it into a bowl, cover it with a lid or clean cloth for an hour. Its size doubles.

Step 4: Take a small bowl, add tomato sauce (grind tomatoes granular with a little water in a grinder), garlic powder, oregano, salt, pepper, olive oil, or simply oil. Mix it.

Assemble the Pizza

Step 5: Before assembling pizza, preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).

Step 6: Transfer the dough onto the floured surface. Roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle and keep it a little thick.

Step 7: Transfer the rolled dough onto a baking sheet or baking stone.

Step 8: Spread tomato sauce evenly.

Step 9: Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over it, then place pepperoni slices on top.

Bake and Done

Step 10: Bake pizza in a preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Step 11: After time is done, take it out, do slicing, and sprinkle oregano for extra flavor.
