Make Tasty Croissants
croissant
Making croissants takes a little more time than any other recipe, but I will give you easy steps to prepare your desired croissant in different and possible methods.
Starting from kneading the dough, take a bowl…
Ingredients
For the Dough:
3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour (substitute: bread flour for a chewy texture)
¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
1 ½ tsp salt
1 tbsp active dry yeast (substitute: 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast)
1 cup (240ml) warm milk (substitute: plant-based milk for dairy-free)
2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (substitute: margarine for dairy-free)
For the Butter Layer:
1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, cold (substitute: vegan butter for dairy-free)
For the Egg Wash:
1 egg + 1 tbsp milk (substitute: 2 tbsp plant-based milk for vegan)
Before We Start
Cold ingredients matter – Use cold butter and keep the dough chilled to prevent it from becoming sticky.
Use a rolling pin – Helps evenly spread butter and create delicate layers.
Plan ahead – The process takes 12-24 hours due to resting and proofing times.
Instructions
Prepare the Dough
Step 1: Use warm milk, add sugar and yeast, stir. Let it sit for minutes until foamy. Until then...
Step 2: Take a large enough bowl to knead the dough. Add all-purpose flour, salt, and mix ingredients. Make a well in the center, add the mixture of yeast and room temperature butter. Mix ingredients thoroughly.
Step 3: Start kneading the dough (don’t fold it constantly). Give it hands spread, do it for 5-7 minutes. Cover the bowl, place in the refrigerator for an hour until the dough sets.
The Butter Layer
Step 4: Take parchment paper or plastic wrap, place cold 1 cup butter cut into roughly small slices. Cover it with another parchment paper. Then gently use a rolling pin with little pressure, up and down, to make it pliable. (Butter layer must be thick, don’t be too thin, just expand—we use this method.) Roll it out to 7x7 inches or even a bit smaller. Chill it for 30 minutes in the fridge.
Laminate the Dough
Step 5: Now take out the bowl with dough, turn it onto a floured surface, roll it to a 10x10 inch square.
Step 6: Place the butter in the center and fold the whole dough over it like an envelope!
Step 7: Roll into a rectangle as 20x10 inches, then gently fold into thirds (like a letter). (It’s literally gonna be a present for yourself.)
Step 8: Chill for 30 minutes and repeat this process twice. (In between, this is the only time you freeze it—now you don’t need to freeze in between.)
(Before rolling and shaping, you can add filling into it, whichever you prefer, like almond, cream, chocolate, caramel, or even cheese. Then do the next steps.)
Shape the Croissants
Step 9: Roll the dough into a large, even, and thick 1/4-inch rectangle.
Step 10: Use a cutter or sharp knife and cut triangles (3-inch triangles). Roll each one from the base to the tip to form croissants.
Step 11: Place them on a lined baking tray and cover loosely. Let it rise for 2 hours.
Bake Croissants
Step 12: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 13: Use eggs to coat your croissants (crack an egg, whisk it, apply onto your croissants).
Step 14: Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown.
Step 15: Let it cool slightly before serving.
Well, now your present is done! Serve it along with chocolate, or you can make a vegan version too.
Serve
Use a tray (wooden one is better, but) arrange croissants and sides with it.
Add paper towels along with it to get a better impression.
Place hot chocolate, coffee like espresso or cappuccino, or even fresh orange juice.
Best side will be scrambled eggs with cheese, honey butter, or jam.
Make your serving easy!
What Goes with Croissants
Make your croissant with side dishes:
Fresh fruit salad, jam, Greek yogurt with granola, honey, chocolate, caramel syrup.
With drinks:
Coffee, hot chocolate, fresh orange juice, iced latte, mocha, or even herbal tea.
Choice is yours—it’s gonna be even better too!

Conclusion
Firstly, do the mixture ready for the dough. Have warm milk, add sugar and yeast, stir, and sit it until foamy. Take a bowl of dough, combine ingredients (flour, salt), mix it, then add the yeast mixture and warm butter. Start to well combine all ingredients and prepare a smooth dough. Knead it for 5-7 minutes. Cover the bowl, place it into the refrigerator for an hour.
Until it’s done, take a parchment paper, place cold butter onto it, and cut roughly into square or rectangle pieces. Place another parchment paper onto it to cover butter. With a rolling pin, do up and down to expand and equal all, keeping butter thick at the last bit. Chill it for 30 minutes in the fridge.
Take your dough out onto the floured surface. Roll that whole 10x10 inch square, place the butter in the center, fold the dough over it like an envelope. Then roll it into a 20x10 inch rectangle and fold it into thirds (letter fold). Keep it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Do this same process twice (roll into 10x10 inch, place butter, fold as an envelope, again roll it 20x10 inch, and fold as a letter. Repeat one more time). After the process is done, at last, place it for 30 minutes into the fridge.
Then roll it into a large square or rectangle but thick, 1/4 inch. Cut triangle shapes with a cutter or sharp knife. Roll from the base to the tip to form croissants. Place them on a lined baking tray and cover loosely, let them rise for 2 hours.
Then do start baking. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush croissants with egg wash and bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown. Let it cool slightly before serving.
And done! Serve it with chocolate or make it a vegan variety as you want!!
Do enjoy your homemade croissant.
