Recipe of Pizza Margherita

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups (300g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 ½ cups (300g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup canned San Marzano tomatoes (or any crushed tomatoes)

  • Fresh basil leaves

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Salt to taste

Before We Start

  • Preheat your oven to the highest temperature (250°C/480°F) and place a pizza stone or an inverted baking tray inside to heat up.

  • If using fresh mozzarella, drain and pat it dry to prevent excess moisture on the pizza.

Activate the Yeast

Step 1: Take a bowl, add sugar, yeast, and light warm water. Keep aside for 5-7 minutes to activate.

Prepare the Dough

Step 2: Take a large enough bowl to knead the dough. Add 2 ½ cups (300g) all-purpose flour, 1 tsp salt, 1 tbsp oil, and the yeast mixture. Step 6: Spread fresh mozzarella evenly and drizzle a little olive oil.

Step 7: Place the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking tray. Bake for 7-10 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese becomes bubbly.

Step 8: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately sprinkle fresh basil leaves. Slice and serve your Pizza Margherita!

Step 5: After rolling out the dough, heat a non-stick or regular pan over low-medium heat and grease it with oil. Heat it for 5 minutes.
Step 6: Place your plain pizza into it and let it cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom turns crusty and brown, then flip it.
Step 7: Insert a fork 4-7 times into the dough. Spread your tomato sauce, leaving a 1-inch margin from the corner, and spread mozzarella evenly. Cover it properly, leave it over low flame, and let it cook for at least 4-7 minutes until the cheese melts.
